Pinewood Car Canopy Lead tungsten round dome cockpit is a great way to bring your race car to proper weight in style. To achieve top speed, your pinewood derby car must weigh-in at the maximum allowable weight (generally 5 ounces).
Our canopies come with flat bottoms that allow drilling (if needed) to remove excess weight. If you make a thin ultralight body, probably the only way to add weight is to the top of the body. As a result, this is a good solution to your problem.

How to install Pinewood Car Canopy Lead
Pinewood Car Canopy Lead Method of install is GLUE on. The bottom of this canopy is flat. This allows you to adjust the weight to get the perfect Center of Gravity.
HOW TO PAINT LEAD…. HERE IS A GOOD START
Especially relevant to your cub scout health, painting unprotected or unpainted lead will seal the substrate and prevent it from causing harm. Pinewood Car Canopy Lead can be used without any issues as long as you seal it.
Surface Preparation — First of all, all surfaces must be clean, dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied. Allow to dry.
Priming — Prime lead canopy with three coats of primer in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow a minimum drying time of 1 hour in normal drying conditions. Light sanding after the second coat of primer. Use a wet sand / steel wool to smooth the surface. Only after the second coat. Wear a mask to minimize dust inhalation. Leave the bottom free of paint for maximum glue adhesion.
NOTE:
Please cover all exposed lead canopy with paint or some sort of physical barrier. DO NOT sand lead without proper breathing equipment because Lead dust can be harmful to children if inhaled or swallowed. Consequently do not let you cub scout prepare the lead. Wash all hands prior to any additional preparation. Do not blow the dust off in an enclose work space.
