Pinewood Derby Ladder Car Body – XL is about as thin as we feel comfortable making.  Fast low profile design utilizing 1/4″ tungsten cubes or tungsten block ballasts.  Designed be light and structurally sound weighing in at 9.5 grams with optional veneer top.   1/4″ thickness with adjustable cog.  Lots of push. lots of options.   We have done the major steps for you!  You will still need at least 115 grams of  weight to bring the car to proper weight even more with weight reduced wheels.  Take note, there is no messing around with this body.  Know what you are doing, use sharp bits, drill and build slow.  If an axle is tight, you might want to run the provided bit through it again.    This body does not come with wheels or axles.

Due to its thickness, we highly suggest using a bent axle instead of trying to drill a high wheel.

Ultra Light bodies are designed with minimum wood weight in mind.  We use simple, proven designs that will get you in the winner’s circle.  Since we remove a lot of the strength structure of the wood block, handle these bodies with care.  NO HAMMERING ever.  Because of this a #44 drill bit provided with each body to ensure easy proper axle install.

Made from an official BSA block, know this car is always compliant with national rules.  The rules of local events sometimes differ from those of BSA box rules. Due to this,  it is necessary to know your rules before choosing our unique modifications for your PWD car.  Each pack’s rules will be different. How to properly add weight

Take note, these bodies are not at weight.  Please properly plan for this.  Comes in around 9-10 grams so you will need about 115 grams of additional weight.  We offer tungsten cylinder kit and various lead toppers to customize to your liking .  Design is based on the 7 principles of having a fast pinewood derby car.  This body covers the low profile, lightweight, aerodynamic design.  COG is infinitely adjustable.
